Updating your Nameservers

The first step in getting started is to make sure that your domain name is pointed to Jumpline.com’s nameservers. If you purchased your domain from Jumpline.com, you can skip this step; if your domain is currently registered and pointed to a previous web host, you will need to update your nameservers to reflect the following information with your domain registration provider:

Jumpline.com’s Nameservers are:

Primary Nameserver

ns1.myhostcenter.com
64.6.240.120

Secondary Nameserver

ns2.myhostcenter.com
64.6.240.130

Note: It can take up to 48 hours before updates to your domain name will take effect, during this time you may not be able to access your website via your domain name.

Accessing your VDS Manager

To get started with your new Jumpline.com VDS Hosting account, you should login to and explore the VDS Manager. To login, first go to your customer manager, located at https://my.jumpline.com and click on the ‘My Products’ section. Now that you’re viewing the Products overview, you can directly access your VDS Manager by clicking the link next to the plan you are working with.
Once you’ve logged in to your VDS Manager, you can get started by adding your first email account.

Creating an Email Account

To add an email account click on ‘Accounts’ on the left side of the VDS Manager, then click ‘Add’ at the bottom of the page. Enter the username of the email account that you would like to add (the username is the portion of the email address before the @ sign), decide on a password, and enter a quick description to help you organize your accounts in the future. Once you’ve filled out this page, click ‘Finish’. Your account is now ready to receive mail and can be configured in your email software.

When setting up your email software, use the following information, along with the username and password you have just created:

Incoming mail server type: POP3
Incoming mail server name:  mail.EXAMPLE.COM (enter your domain name here)
Username or Account Name: (where username is the name that you just created, and using your domain name)
Outgoing mail server type: SMTP
Outgoing mail server name: mail.EXAMPLE.COM (enter your domain name here)

Adding a Virtual Hosting Account

If you would like to utilize Jumpline.com’s virtual host technology to add another website to your new account, you can do so from the VDS Manager. First, use the ‘Accounts’ section to create a new username for your virtual host. Click ‘Add’ at the bottom of the page, then enter a username, description, and password that you can remember—if you are adding a virtual host named ‘www.example.com’, you may want to use ‘example’ as the username. Click ‘Finish’ once you are done.

Now you will need to go to the ‘Domains’ section of the VDS Manager to complete your virtual host setup. This area lists each of the virtual hosts which you have configured; to add a new virtual host, click ‘Add Domain’ at the bottom of the page. In the new window, enter the domain name of the virtual host at the top (do not include the www before the domain—simply enter ‘example.com’), then select ‘Custom’ at the bottom of the window.

Selecting custom allows you to enter a specific ‘root directory’ for this virtual host, by doing this you will keep the new files separated from your existing website.
Remove anything that may appear in the text field next to ‘Custom’ and enter the following:

/ftp/pub/username (replace ‘username’ with the user you just created)

If you created a user named ‘example’ in the Accounts section, simply enter /ftp/pub/example as the custom root directory. Once you click ‘Finish’ your virtual host will be added and you can use your FTP software to connect to the new account.

To publish to your virtual host, use the new username and password that you have created in place of the main VDS username and password that were assigned to you. Once you login with FTP, you will be automatically directed to the folder for your virtual host and you can begin uploading your files.

FTP Information

To begin publishing your website content to your new account, enter the following information into your FTP client or publishing software:

FTP Server hostname: ftp.EXAMPLE.COM (enter your domain name here)
IP Address:  enter your IP address
FTP Username: enter your username
FTP Password: enter your password
FTP Root directory: /var/www/html/

You can use the IP address of your account instead of the hostname if your domain is not yet pointed to our nameservers.
